Microneedling, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) & PDO Threads

Microneedling

Microneedling is a great way to bring back youthful, bouncy, and healthy-looking skin. As we age, our skin loses essential proteins like collagen and elastin, which are responsible for its smooth appearance, which is why we begin to notice signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, stretch marks, and sun damage.

What are the benefits of micro-needling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that triggers the release of natural growth factors under the skin, which increases collagen production and boosts the production of new skin cells.

What happens during the procedure?

After a consultation with our trained practitioners, your skin will be cleansed, and a topical anesthetic or numbing cream is applied for 30 minutes, after which the skin is cleaned again.

The automated pen or wand of the instrument contains multiple sterile needle tips that, when applied to the skin, create micro-injuries or pinpricks. This stimulates the derma, or the deep layer of the skin, to produce new collagen-rich tissue.

Microneedling can also be used to deposit serums like hyaluronic acid, PRP, or vitamin C deeper into the skin.

What kind of post-procedure aftercare is required?

We recommend avoiding makeup, sweating, going in saunas or hot tubs during the first 48 hours after the procedure to prevent infection.

Seventy-two hours after the procedure, you may experience some flaking of your skin, which can last for up to 5 days

Does the procedure hurt? What can the possible side effects be?

Many people have described the feeling of sandpaper being rubbed gently across the skin but usually don’t experience any pain or discomfort. Within the first 24-48 hours after the treatment, you can expect your skin to be pinkish-red and feel like it may be slightly sunburnt.

When will the results of the procedure be noticeable?

The results of micro-needling are visible immediately, with a healthy glow to your skin. However, many people find that the effects of micro-needling improve several days or weeks later.

What are the target areas or conditions where micro-needling can be used?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

A PRP or platelet-rich plasma procedure is very popular because it uses your blood to rejuvenate your skin and hair.

Although it is also being used in many other conditions and sports injuries, because of its ability to improve healing, PRP has been very effective in improving skin health and preventing hair loss.

What are the benefits of PRP?

PRP treatments involve using your blood and serum instead of any chemicals for the procedure, and taking advantage of the natural growth factors present,  boosts cell growth. This enhances the regeneration of tissues in the skin, leading to smooth texture and even younger-looking skin. The most significant advantage of this minimally invasive technique is that there is no risk of allergies as we are using your blood for the procedure.

What happens during the procedure?

After a detailed medical history and consultation with our trained practitioners, we draw a small amount of blood from your vein and place it in a centrifuge. This isolates the growth factors present in the blood from the rest of the blood cells in a straw-colored liquid called plasma, rich in platelets. It is extracted from the blood tube with a syringe. This is then injected into the target area, where the PRP spurs collagen production and increases blood flow, leading to firmer skin and reduced lines and wrinkles.

What kind of post-procedure aftercare is required?

Does the procedure hurt? What can the possible side effects be?

There is only mild discomfort felt during the procedure. Afterward, there may be slight swelling and redness, which are temporary.

When will the results of the procedure be noticeable?

You can begin to see the benefits soon after the treatment. Better results are seen with 2-3 treatments given 3-4 months apart.

PDO Lifting Threads

Do you want to take years off your face? What if there was a non-surgical way to lift all the sagging and wrinkled parts of your face, leaving you with smooth, tight, and rejuvenated skin? The PDO (Polydioxanone) skin lifting threads may be just what you need!

What are the benefits of PDO Lifting threads?

A PDO thread lifting procedure is a minimally invasive technique that gives you tighter, younger-looking skin. You can target your entire face and neck or focus only on a sagging eyebrow or jowl. The PDO threads can be placed strategically to stimulate volume and elasticity in the skin or create facial symmetry and contour your features evenly.

PDO thread lifting uses a biodegradable suture that dissolves on its own in the skin. It is a minimally invasive process that gives the same results as facelift surgery without going under the knife. It can be used together with dermal fillers for more noticeable results.

What happens during the procedure?

We will take a detailed history and evaluate your skin at your first consultation. You may be asked about the different medications you take and look into alternatives for aspirin or other blood-thinning drugs that could increase your chances of bleeding or bruising.

When you come in for your appointment, our practitioners will begin by cleaning and disinfecting your face. A local anesthetic is then inserted in the target areas. We will make a small incision with a needle and insert a cannula device into the small hole. The thread is anchored into place and pulled out through the cannula. The line is carried inside the needle and deposited under the skin. This boosts collagen growth around the thread. After a few months, the thread dissolves, leaving behind tighter skin due to the collagen growth.

What kind of post-procedure aftercare is required?

After the treatment, you may experience mild swelling and bruising. This should resolve over the course of 1-2 days. You can return to your normal activities immediately.

In the weeks after the treatment, you should avoid rubbing your face so that you don’t accidentally dislodge the thread. You may also be asked to avoid heavy exercise,  sleeping on your side, or pursing your lips while smoking or drinking through a straw.

Does the procedure hurt? What can the possible side effects be?

The procedure usually does not hurt after the application of anesthesia. In some cases, the thread may be visible under the skin; there may be minor bruising, dimpling, or inflammation of the skin. If you do experience these effects, please come in for a consultation.

When will the results of the procedure be noticeable?

The results of the procedure are usually seen immediately and can last for up to 6 months
