Optimas (Morpheus 8, Lumecca, Forma)

Morpheus 8

Morpheus8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, tissues of the face and body can be remodeled to reveal a more radiant youthful appearance.

How does the Morpheus 8 procedure work?

This is a minimally invasive procedure using a matrix of micro pins to renew deeper layers of the skin with almost no patient downtime. Radio frequency (RF) energy is scientifically proven to remodel and build collagen. Fractionated energy triggers collagen and elastin production in the deeper layers of the skin. As the skin heals, it rejuvenates the top layers of your skin, eliminating surface scarring and softening fine lines and wrinkles.

Does the procedure hurt? Are there any side effects?

To offset discomfort, we always numb for about a hour prior to the procedure and offer pronox during the treatment. You may notice micro lesions, mild swelling, & redness, similar to a sunburn. There may be occasional pinpoint bleeding after the procedure. As these puncture wounds heal, they may cause the skin to flake. It is a minimally invasive procedure and is considered safe for healthy people. It should be avoided if you are on certain acne medications or if pregnant.

What kind of post procedure after care is required?

Patients should moisturize the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. A healing ointment such as SkinCeuticals Hydra Balm or Aquaphor may be applied over the area for 1-3 days. It is also recommended that patients use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing the risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also slow the aging process.

When can I put makeup on after the treatment?

Since patient downtime is minimal, makeup can be applied 1 to 2 days after the treatment. We recommend the Oxygenetix foundation as it is aloe vera based and breathable, so it won’t clog your pores or damage your skin.

How quickly will I see results?

Visible results can be seen within a few days, but typically after three weeks the most noticeable results appear. Improvements continue up to three months after the treatment.

How many sessions are recommended?

The number of sessions and the length of each session may vary depending on the area involved. Your practitioner will recommend the optimal number of sessions to be performed based on your personal objectives. Typically, high energy treatments require 3 sessions spread 4-6 weeks apart.

Who is the ideal candidate for a Morpheus 8 treatment?

The benefit of Morpheus8’s color blind technology is that it can be used on all skin types. The unique properties allow even darker tones to be treated. It should be avoided if you have an active skin infection around the target area.

Lumecca

As we age, our skin experiences sun damage, leading to visible age spots, enlarged pores, and rosacea. Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) laser on the market and is able to provide results faster than any other IPL. It’s advanced technology treats pigmented skin and vascular lesions. It is a safe, easy, and effective way to counteract these effects, leading to firmer, smoother, and younger looking skin.

How does Lumecca Intense Pulsed Light therapy work?

Lumecca uses intense pulses of light that penetrate the skin and are absorbed by damaged tissue. This process is also known as photo thermolysis as it delivers specific wavelengths of light to interact with the pigments in the skin. Once the damaged tissue or pigmented area absorbs the light, they begin to break down. The light pulses also stimulate the production of collagen and cause blood vessels beneath the epidermis to constrict, resulting in firmer skin, with reduced flushing or redness, smaller pores, and fading age spots. Each session lasts 30-40 minutes, with minimal downtime and results are visible after the first 1-2 sessions.

What precautions need to be taken before the procedure?

  • Avoid direct, excessive sun exposure or tanning 3-4 weeks prior to treatment and use at least 30 SPF sunblock.
  • Avoid irritant topical agents for 2-3 days before treatment.
  • Avoid anticoagulants for 7-10 days prior to treatment, if medically permitted.

Does the procedure hurt? Are there any side effects?

During treatment there will be a bright flash of light from Lumecca accompanied by a sensation on your skin that feels like a light snap from an elastic band. Redness and slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Most patients do not experience any side effects and any skin reaction usually resolves within a few hours. Patients may find they are sensitive to sunlight immediately after treatment.

What kind of post procedure after care is required?

Over the next 24-48 hours you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterwards, the pigmented lesions flake off and your skin tone becomes even. After treating vascular lesions, you may see the vein blanch disappear or a color change in the vessel which dissipates after a few days. It is recommended to avoid direct sunlight and tanning. The use of sunscreen and medical grade skincare is encouraged to accelerate skin healing and to protect the regenerating tissue.

When can I put makeup on after the treatment?

Makeup can be applied right after as long as the skin is not broken. We recommend mineral based makeup and the use of sunscreen underneath.

How quickly will I see results?

Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. The skin will continue to look younger and more brilliant over time with most visible results after 1-2 weeks. Having multiple photo facial sessions will improve the final result. For vascular treatments such as telangiectasis, results can be seen in up to two weeks.

How many sessions are recommended?

An improved skin appearance can be noted after the first session. Multiple sessions provide even better results, typically we advise on a course of three however the number of sessions needed for an ideal outcome depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment (vascular vs sun damage) and energy settings used during the treatment.

Who is the ideal candidate for a Lumecca IPL treatment?

You may not be suitable for Lumecca IPL treatment if you have any medical condition that might impair skin healing or have an active condition in the treatment area, such as sores, psoriasis, eczema, or a rash. It should be avoided if you have a pacemaker, if you are pregnant or nursing, or you have been using isotretinoin within 6 months prior to treatment. Lumecca has shown good results when treating people with:

  • Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
  • Vascular lesions such as facial telangiectasis (spider veins) and poikiloderma
  • Rosacea (redness)
  • Freckles
  • Sun damage

What areas can Lumecca IPL be used on?

Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun.

Before & After

Forma

As we get older our skin begins to change. The amount of collagen and elastin proteins responsible for the structure and renewal of skin cells, decreases. This makes the skin drier, thinner, and more susceptible to fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage. While we do have the ability to boost the production of collagen in our skin, it does need a little encouragement. Forma works by combining the power of radio frequency and heat to stimulate the formation of new collagen and improve the skin’s overall elasticity. It’s been called the “non-surgical face lift” for its ability to tighten the skin without surgery.

How does the Forma procedure work?

Forma was developed based on the clinical success of the proprietary A.C.E. (Acquire, Control, Extend) technology. A.C.E. technology uses radio frequency energy to target deep layers of the skin, with no area being under or over treated. This makes the skin more elastic, firm, and tight, causing loose areas to contract. The skin produces newer, healthier cells & replaces the old, damaged ones with improved blood flow and nutrients. The skin regains its structural support, so that you can avoid using more invasive techniques like fillers or traditional plastic surgery methods like face-lifts.

Does the procedure hurt? Are there any side effects?

Even though the Forma delivers heat, it is not uncomfortable and essentially painless due to its precise technology and deep-layer targeting of the skin. Some people compare it to a hot stone massage. It is safe to use under the eyes as well due to the auto-regulating technology to control its temperature. Slight redness in the treatment area is common post-procedure and subsides within a few hours.

What kind of post procedure after care is required?

There is generally no recovery period after this procedure. One of the greatest advantages of Forma is that you can resume normal activities immediately after and apply your regular skin care products or make-up.

How quickly will I see results?

You will notice improvement after each session and the results are seen for years after, if maintained with non-surgical skin tightening treatments scheduled further apart.

How many sessions are recommended?

It is recommended that weekly sessions are performed over a six to eight week period. Individuals may be treated in fewer sessions with more weeks between each treatment. Scheduling should be based on a medical pre-evaluation.

Is Forma for me?

Forma works on all skin types, at all ages. It is effective on:

  • Brow lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Jowls
  • Upper and lower eyelids
  • Lines around the lips
  • Stretch marks
  • Batwings under the arms
  • Rough elbows
  • Firming of the décolletage
  • Wrinkles on the neck

Can this be used in combination with other treatments?
