As we get older, the collagen in our skin decreases gradually. This makes our skin age faster as it loses moisture and volume. Dermal fillers are a great solution if you are looking for ways to turn back the hands of time and bring back soft, supple, and youthful-looking skin
At Eunoia Med Spa, we emphasize the importance of preventative treatments over corrective ones. Preventative treatments with neurotoxins, such as Botox, Jeuveau, Daxxy, Dysport, and Xeomin, are designed to address the early signs of aging before they become pronounced. Here’s why opting for preventative treatments is beneficial:
Dermal Fillers are used in areas with lost volume. After age 20 we lose 1% of collagen in our skin each year. This drop of collagen can result in:-hallowing of the cheeks
-hollows under the eyes
-hallows in the temple
-deep creases or lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds or smile lines
-losing volume in the face
-thinning lips
-relaxed jawline contour
-neck laxity
-hand laxity
These fillers are created by different companies – Allergan makes Juvederm, Galderma produces Restylane, and Revance creates RHA – but they are sterile gels consisting of hyaluronic acid (HA) which attracts water in the body to plump up and fill in the areas, smoothing out the skin. Each filler has its own unique properties-the HAs have different cross-linking structure, but for the most part, are considered interchangeable. Our skilled staff will help you pick which company’s filler is best for you but we like to offer all three for variety as we know not everyone’s morphology has the same requirements.

Radiesse and Sculptra are both injectable dermal fillers used in cosmetic and medical procedures to enhance facial aesthetics, but they differ in composition, mechanism of action, and specific applications.
Composition: Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a naturally occurring substance found in human bones.
Mechanism of Action: When injected, Radiesse provides immediate volume and correction due to the gel carrier. Over time, the CaHA microspheres stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. As the gel carrier is absorbed, the newly formed collagen remains, providing long-lasting results.
Applications:
Facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.
Volume loss in the back of the hands.
Chin and jawline enhancement.
Non-surgical nose reshaping.
Duration: The effects of Radiesse can last up to a year or more, depending on the treatment area and individual factors
Composition: Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible, biodegradable synthetic polymer.
Mechanism of Action: Sculptra works by stimulating the body’s own collagen production. Unlike fillers that provide immediate volume, Sculptra works gradually. The PLLA microparticles are injected into the skin, where they trigger an inflammatory response that leads to collagen production. Over a series of treatments, this increased collagen production results in a gradual and natural-looking improvement in volume and skin texture.
Applications:
Duration: The results of Sculptra appear gradually and can last up to two years or more after the full treatment series is completed.
Key Differences
You may resume your normal activities in 24 hours, however an icepack may occasionally be needed to reduce mild swelling after the procedure, and the area may feel a little tender for a few days.
